Poor communication results in rigid dump truck colliding with car

  • What happened?

    A mechanic was on his way to sign off the pre-shift checklist for an excavator.

    When entering the loading area, he overtook a stationary rigid dump truck (RDT), presumed to be isolated.

    The RDT operator suddenly turned to reverse park the RDT and collided with the mechanic’s vehicle.

    No injuries were sustained during the incident.

    The collision caused damaged to a property with a high potential risk to life.
