Lifting equipment

Published on 03/05/22 1830 Views

Before any lift takes place make sure you know the company’s procedures, site rules and all potential hazards. Make sure that the equipment you are using is properly certified and suitable for the lift. However, you still need to carry out various checks such as on the wire ropes, winch drum and fastenings, to ensure the equipment is right for the load.

Ask yourself and your crew:

  • How can something like this happen here (e.g. on our site)?
  • What safety measures (i.e. procedures, controls/barriers) do we have in place to mitigate the risk?
  • How do we know the risk controls/barriers are working?
  • What improvements or changes should we make to the procedures, controls/barriers or the way we work?
