IMCA DROPS Part 1 - Working at height

Published on 13/04/22 1882 Views

If the job you are about to do involves working at height or at a location where there is a potential of tools or equipment dropping to a lower level causing serious harm, for example, working in towers, temporary scaffold platforms, walkways, etc. then DROPS prevention always starts before you begin the job and should be part of the planning phase.

Ask yourself and your crew:

  • How can something like this happen here (e.g. on our site)?
  • What safety measures (i.e. procedures, controls/barriers) do we have in place to mitigate the risk?
  • How do we know the risk controls/barriers are working?
  • What improvements or changes should we make to the procedures, controls/barriers or the way we work?
