Electrical hazards

Published on 25/04/22 1754 Views

Contact with live parts will result in electric shocks and if equipment is faulty, it could be a source of ignition in a potentially flammable or explosive atmosphere. Electrical equipment should only be used by people who are competent to operate it. Work on electrical equipment should be covered by company safety procedures and a permit to work should be issued when required.

Ask yourself and your crew:

  • How can something like this happen here (e.g. on our site)?
  • What safety measures (i.e. procedures, controls/barriers) do we have in place to mitigate the risk?
  • How do we know the risk controls/barriers are working?
  • What improvements or changes should we make to the procedures, controls/barriers or the way we work?
